UWC Mongolia follows a thorough and well-rounded selection process to identify motivated and talented young individuals who align with UWC’s values and mission.
Before starting your application, we suggest you:

You’ll then be ready to start your UWC journey!
1. Application stage
The first step in the selection process is submitting an application. This includes:
- Completing an online application form with personal details, academic background, extracurricular activities, and motivations for applying to UWC.
- Submitting an essay: ‘Why I want to study at UWC’ (300 words in English and Mongolian).
- Providing 2x references* from a teacher and school administrator.
- Uploading academic transcripts from the last two years and copies of any awards received.
- Copy of citizenship identification/ID card.
- One 3×4 size photo.
- Financial reference and proof letter* (required only for nominated students without a scholarship or with a partial scholarship).
- Signed permission from the parent or legal guardian.
*Important: School reference letters and financial reference letters must be sent directly from the respective institution to [email protected].
2. Selection stage
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in a multi-step selection process, which typically includes:
- Application Review: assessment of application materials and essay.
- Interview: 3 rounds of one-on-one interview in English with current UWC students and UWC alumni. (for candidates advancing from Round 1).
- Group Interview: conducted in English (for candidates advancing from Round 2).
- Final Interview: with members of the UWC National Committee of Mongolia.
3. Nomination stage
After selections, the National Committee nominates the most promising candidates for placement at UWC schools and colleges. Successful applicants will:
- Receive an offer for a UWC placement, which may be fully or partially funded depending on demonstrated need (all applicants will be requested to submit financial information to this effect).
- Have the opportunity to accept or decline the nomination.
- Complete necessary paperwork and preparations for enrollment.
